Tire sales and service in all types of tires including: passenger, light truck, industrial, truck, and earthmover.
Truck tire retreading:
Helped start Michelin Retread Technologies in 1996 after having extensive experience with customers retread systems for 24 previous years. Responsible for startup marketing, sales, training, quality through process compliance and management.
Web based training:
Working with outside vendors, oversaw the development and deployment of a world class retread plant operator training and testing system which preceded MNA’s implementation of a LMS (learning management system).
Web based communication / documentation system:
Starting in 2007, oversaw the development and deployment of a web based sever system providing every plant and all support personnel access to upload, view and communicate live with video and audio, which is simultaneously recorded and filed for future access.
TMC Technology and Maintenance Council:
since 1988; chaired several task forces and basically wrote several recommended practices. Most recently, those were Safety Issues related to the use of flammable demounting fluids; Tire data marking in the retread and repair process; updating repair RP’s with specifics regarding the offsetting of the repair patch in the shoulder area. In 2013, chairing two task forces to address ongoing topics of, retreads on steer axles; repair and use protocols for steer axle applications.
TRIB Tire Retread & Repair Information Bureau:
While on BOD, added Repair to organization’s name. Implemented written antitrust guidelines to meeting protocols. Recruited several new dealer member representatives. Initiated the project to purge obsolete DOT plant ID codes from system, which was accomplished by other TRIB members.
TRMG Tread Rubber and Tire Repair Materials Manufacturers Group:
As chairman of Technical Committee, responsible for updating IRPTRTR Industry Recommended Practices for Tire Retreading and Tire Repairing. Added addendums regarding: Flammable Demounting Fluids safety considerations; established new repair category RSR reinforced shoulder repair utilizing the offset capabilities of current repair units to enhance durability of the repair; casing data marking in the retread and or repair process.
Rubber Manufacturers Association Retread & Repair Materials Committee:
1997 to 2006 when it in effect disbanded due to organizational down sizing. Participated in writing and updating RMA Shop Bulletins.
RIGAC Retread Industry Government Affairs Council:
1997-2012 it is composed of three groups, TIA Tire Industry Accociation, RMA, and TRMG that presents an industry unified position on any regulatory activities being contemplated. Participated in drafting letter to and meetings with NHTSA on industry position regarding commercial tire retreading and DOT 119.
NHTSA 2005 TREAD Act review of implementing this law in the area of commercial truck tires: participated heavily in preparation and delivery of educational information to NHTSA staff regarding the life cycle of a truck tire and how they are managed which negated any need for extensive rule making.
